  • Aftermarket exhaust question

Will an aftermarket exhaust really make a difference in fuel mileage. I have a superchip programmer and an air raid cold air intake on my 09 rubicon unlimited. I have a borla on my yj and I love the sound it makes but on the newer jeep it would be more for fuel mileage gain and performance.

Short answer yes, but do you really drive the Jeep far enough to make a difference.

We've done a couple of the first gen JKs as far as the performance mods go and I have to say I wasn't impressed. One client brought a brand new 2009 to the shop and asked that it be outfitted with intake, headers, and full exhaust along with a programmer.....for the substantial amount of coin he spent, he gained 11 hp......To me, that was not a cost effective hp increase. And, to be honest, he never claimed any noticeable fuel mileage gain....

Get a cat back system, and bolt it up to a Hemi, then put said Hemi under your hood. Best way to get decent performance out of a JK
