  • K&N Oil Filter....is it worth the extra $$?

Anybody have an opinion on the K&N oil filter? Is it worth the extra money? Or are we just paying for the name?

In my opinion...you are paying for the name.

Waste of money. Buy a good quality filter, like Original equipment, or a wix and save the extra bucks.

I use a larger WIX oil filter for a Ford Tractor. Part # 51775 at Oreilly. Same thread, seal, and oil backflow pressure, and a lot more filter capacity. Its about the same price as a regular WIX (around $7), works great and fits in the stock holder - if you're in the YJ, TJ, XJ crowd anyway.

I have used Fram for over 30 years.........never had a problem with them.....:-)

and instead of changing the oil every 3,000 miles like ya should.......I am lucky if I remember to do it every 30,000 miles......still ZERO problemo's tho ;-)

Thanks guys. I figured they were just overpriced. I went with the WIX.

I used them for awhile on my SRT. Overpriced but I did like the "nut" on the end for easy removal.

I've always ran Wix even on our high performance 900hp+ cars, In my opinion the K&N isnt worth it.... put some oil on the o ring, hand tighten and you wont have problems getting it off next change

I recommend Wix. Been using that in my YJ for 10+ years

Kinda expensive, it does have a back flow valve. But so does fram , wix, and mopar
