  • Engine work / swap

I have a friend that has a 2001 Grand Cherokee that has a bad motor (bad clanking sound). Has the V8, 180K miles. Everything else on it is good.

Can anyone recommend a shop to rebuild the motor, or do a used motor swap? Which would be best?

Could I swap a 4.0 into it? Or would that be more trouble than its worth?

You can do a 4.0 swap but you are right it is more trouble than what it is worth. I have done a couple of 4.7 replacements at my shop and I think that Mike has at 4x4 land. I am off johnson drive and i-35. We do not rebuild engines though we replace with used or already rebuilt ones. If you are interested in a quote pm me and I will get your info.
Some people just need to get over themselves.

I work at the Auto Clinic, if you want I can ask one of the tech's there if they'd do that swap for you and how much he'd charge
