                  helmet

In my World travels I've saw some pretty wild welding equipment.

For eye protection, A piece of cardboard with two slits cut for eye openings, held by hand. Sunglasses. Nothing.

In Iraq the most popular Welder was a gas powered generator with no amperage adjustment, just let it burn.

Use what ya got. We Americans have very little understanding of that concept.

Watched three Iraqis build a 25x40x14 ft high rain shelter from steel with a gas generator, two foot long piece of a retractable tape measure, homemade hammer made from a 1" piece of steel pipe and a spring block welded together. Chiseled their way thru concrete with their hammer and a two foot piece of pipe with the end smashed flat. While using the generator one guy had to manually run the throttle to keep it running. Took them a month to build the shelter.
