Can YOU hotwire an XJ?

I need to know, if anyone can tell me. Which wires to connect to which when hotwiring a 1996 XJ with auto transmission. And I need to know by color because I'm trying to avoid tracing down all the wires to identify what they go to. I've found several wiring diagrams on line, however none identify the color and the circuit.
This is a trail rig with a bad ignition switch only, the key lock works fine. I'm thinking about putting a push button start in it.

From what I see you would need to hook the red 12 gauge wire and the yellow 14 gauge wire to a new switch. These wires are at the ignition switch connector.

So the yellow is to the starter?

Yellow goes to the starter relay.
