  • 99 Cherokee Classic Fog Lights Don't Work

My wife and I picked up a 99 Cherokee Classic on Wednesday. Since we picked it up the fog lights have not worked. The light on the switch is on. I tried switching relay with a known working one. I checked voltage at the lamp and I am getting only about 5 volts. I haven't bought new bulbs, because 5 volts seems low. I measured this at the passenger fog light connection. Can anyone tell me what the voltage is supposed to be?

Side note. Does anyone know where I can download a service manual for my XJ?

Well it turns out that one of the fog lamps was bad, but that wasn't the reason they didn't work. I found some interesting wiring behind the fog lamp switch in the dash. I don't know what it does and I don't know why it was there, but when I took it out it worked.

This was inline with the switch. Can anyone tell me why it was there?
