  • 97 ZJ CV replacement

The driver's side CV has failed on my son's '97 ZJ Limited (full-time 4wd). My question is should we replace the passenger side CV at the same time or wait? It's not showing any signs of problems - solid boot, no leaking, no noise, etc.

It is just a matter of opinion. I personally would not if it appears to be in good condition.
Some people just need to get over themselves.

The other seemed to be in good shape - boot was sealed, and it didn't seem to have any problems. The driver's side, though, was toast.

Only problem is that the CV wasn't the only problem. There's some kind of popping and snapping in the drivetrain at any speed over 5 mph - it's more apparent in drive than reverse, so back to the troubleshooting.
