  • WJ front driveshaft replacement (CV to U-joint)

I need to replace my front driveshaft in the grand. I broke the stock one in colorado and replaced it with a factory style from napa. Well now it's making noise after a month.

I know I can buy a complete shaft from places like rusty's and rock iron. As far as I can tell I don't see why a CV yoke from an earlier cherokee won't fit on my 242WJ t-case and swap the d30 yoke to a U-joint as well. Then I can have Inland Trucks Parts make me a CV shaft. Has anyone tried to use junkyard parts or just bought new kits?

    Thanks, Jake

I have done it using an XJ front driveshaft and the correct yokes. Get on NAGCA.com and search there. I did this about 5 years ago when I had my WJ, so I do not remember the specifics.
Some people just need to get over themselves.

they also make a conversion plate/yoke that bolts on the existing type3 (cv) at the pumpkin so a normal ujoint and drive shaft can be used. ask purplezj he had one on his grand.
