  • And so it begins....

I have decided to build up my stock Grand Cherokee Limited. I'm starting with the engine upgrades, then moving to the lift. But before I purchase a lift kit, I need some input please. Opinions on the best lift kits, gear ratios, etc.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Don't spend a whole lot in engine upgrades. If yours has the 4.0l, its like any other 4.0l of the era out there. You can put lots of money into upgrades for say 100hp, but really for an offroad rig weighing something close to 5000#s, the excessive $$ has minimal return. Same for the v8s. Do research on engine issues and remedy those. IE 4.0l exhaust header.
For lift, gear ratio, etc, it depends on your tire size. Lift is required to clear the tire size. Gear ratio is required to maintain streetable and offroad performance for the larger tires. Its all relative.

For the ZJ, check out Kevin's offroad. They are the Grand specialist.

Pick the tire size first, and work back from there.
Look into some cut out flare kits, letting you use a short lift, and still fit the tires.

Not a lot of metal to cut out on a grand, rear has 1/2 gain when folded under, but the gas fill and and inner panel get in the way.
the front has more to work with and can trim quite a bit

PS. I like the red green signature....

I would not want any bad ideas, but these look like a good idea.

I was thinking WJ, But you have a ZJ, so I don't know how much you would gain.
