  • Jeep JKU Hard Top Hoist - I need one

Morning all! Does anyone have a JKU Hard Top Hoist they really like and would suggest? Looking for something to mount in my garage for easy access. Power or Manual Hoist, I don't care. Also, if you have one, did you install it yourself or have someone do it? If so, who? Thanks a lot!

If one of my fellow forum Jeepers is confident on the install can happily compensate them.

Didn't see any suggestions here...so did you get a hoist yet?

Either way, I'm new to the forum and Jeep world and looking for any advice here as well. :)

There are plenty of D-I-Y plans on the n'net. Google is your friend there. I had one for my LJ hard top that I installed. It came with a come-a-long to lift it, which I replaced with a 110v winch from Harbor Freight. I bolted the winch to the ceiling and left the controller hanging down and resting on the hard top. It made raising and lowering it a breeze....

Good to hear, thanks. Figured having a powered winch/lift was worth the few extra bucks.

I've seen several threads across the 'Net that reference the Racor Ceiling Rack (can be seen at Amazon http://amzn.com/B0009I8AO6). It's fairly inexpensive and appears to be a good solution.

Below is a link to one of many threads about it that has photos. (I hope links to other forums are ok.)

            Thanks Heath.

Seems pretty similar to what I've seen on some of the Jeep sites, like this hoist. http://www.quadratec.com/products/12020_1110_07.htm

I do want to make sure whatever is securing to the hard top isn't going to leave any marks obviously, and I like how this has a bracket to hold the front 2 pieces also.

Doesn't seem like a power winch is really necessary after looking a little closer. Or worst case should be able to add one later.

I did the Racor rack. Dual use for top storage and general storage. Couple of ratchet straps and you are good.
