95 ZJ Transmission Question
Hello guys,
First off would like to introduce myself as a new member. My name is Jake and I have lived in KC for about a year now (moved from St. Joe) and go to graduate school at UMKC.
I recently acquired a 95 Jeep ZJ with 4.0 and 42re transmission with 210k miles. The vehicle runs decent but the only problem is the transmission will slip from 1st to 2nd gear, especially when it is cold out. Once it gets fully warmed up and you drive it for a while, the slippage ceases.
I talked to a few transmission shops and they said it could be something simple as the "bands" need to be adjusted and could cost under $50. However, if it needs a rebuild could cost up to $1,000.
My experience with mechanics has usually been bad and I have very little mechanical knowledge or I would do it myself.
Does anyone here know someone I could bring my Jeep to that would give me an honest answer and could help me fix it for a decent price?
