  • 1998 jeep cherokee, 6cyl. auto. trans problem

i was driving kinda hard in the upper rpm's and suddenly my jeep cut out and went ito limp mode. Took the batt. cable off and put it back and it ran but not good. It steadily got a little better but not great. Now I am getting trans codes for control module, converter problems and a lean O2 senser. All vac. lines are on. jeep runs ok but is low on power. Doesn't heat up or miss. all gears work. I thought maybe torque converter was not locking up but am unfamiliar with how to tell. Hope onr of you can help me hear. I am at the mercy of mechanics that want to change out the tanny. I have been a long time member. IM me or lccc@swbell.net Thanks

Check out my thread on NAXJA and see if this is similar to what you are experiencing. If it is, the link includes a write up on how to fix it.
