I just changed mine and it took awile to get it to under 80 X 80 pixels !

    whew !

but I just checked another members avatar and it was 166 X 118 pixels ! whats the deal !

I had mine down to 92 X 69 and it still would not accept it !

    I finally reduced it to 80 X 60 ! :(

is there a trick to haveing a bigger avatar ? :?

Don't give into all the hype...It's not all about size! Besides, what are you doing looking at the size of other avatars? :rollinglaugh:

I don't think there is a limit to avatar size but space so it is possible to get a bigger one on there, but we do ask to keep it about the 80x80 size to keep it fair and reduce page space.

            "Avatar control panel

Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 9 KB. "

I'm sure the "BOD's" don't have the same restrictions...

Actually, they do. With this software, it's a board-wide setting. With the new software, we can set it by user group (e.g. so "Online Members" are restricted to no avatar or a postage-stamp, while "Club Members" can have more "options").

If you look at the details for Austin's image for example, you'll see it's not hosted on kcjeepclub.org, so the restrictions don't apply. If you want to host your avatar off site, you can make it a little larger. His is still only 5.5K though -- all that blue background compresses nicely.

i dunno, I haven't honestly cared enough to figure out. Maybe Austin can fill you in. It's all going to change with the new site anyway, so I wouldn't spend a LOT of time messing with it here. :)
