During our cutover to the new site, several changes will be made.
The most noticable of these changes will be that when we cut over to the new site, only Club Member accounts will be migrated automatically; if you're an Online Member you will need to re-register with a valid email address.
As an Online Member you will have read-only access to all public areas of the forums except the For Sale/Wanted sections where you will be able to post. The Club Member section of the forum will continue to be fully restricted and only visible to Club Members.
If you'd like to post in the non-For Sale areas of the forum, we urge you to join the club. Dues are only $30/year.
Several other changes will be made at the time of the cutover. When we cut over to the new site, the content from the following sections will be brought over:
- KC Jeep Club Administration (bring over all except "Site Updates & Website help")
- Club Member Only section (bring over all except "Opinion Outlet")
- Talkin' Jeepin' (nothing will be brought over)
- KC Jeep Club Technical Help (everything will be brought over and it will be combined into a single technical forum rather than split out by SWB, LWB, Electric, etc).
- Buy & Sell (everything will be brought over and set to auto-prune after 60 days)
- Where & When (everything will be brought over; the events & popup sections will be combined into a single forum)
- Testing (nothing will be brought over)
The forums will remain even if nothing is brought over (e.g. Talkin' Jeepin' section) -- they just won't have any content in them until someone posts there.
There will no longer be a publicly accessible "Off Topic" section on the site. The 'Club Member Topics' section will remain for off-topic discussions, but visible only to club members (not online members)
The events calendar will remain public, but the event details (where we're meeting, etc) will be put in the Events section of the forum and moved to the 'Club Member' section; online members will not have access to this discussion, but only the dates of the planned events.
Anyone without a club membership application on fill will be locked until they provide an application with name & contact information. Emails will be sent to anyone this effects at least 1 week in advance to give everyone time to get an application turned in.
A new set of website rules will be created, and every member (both new online members and existing club members) will be shown these rules the first time they log in and will need to agree to abide by them in order to proceed.
Another post will be put up in the coming week or so with details about the cut over, when it will occur, what to expect, and alternative webmaster contact information in the event you experience problems with the new site after the cut-over.
