high redline engine speed at startup

I was just wrapping up a install of a exhaust manifold on my 99 XJ that I'm two days behind on. For some reason when I start it it automatically redlines before I can do anything I have to shut it off for fear of damage. Any idea's? I'm checking wiring and vacuum now. Thanks, Dean
