  • Power steering question????

I have a 1995 jeep Cherokee XJ and the power steering pump has went out on this is a trail rig it has the stock power steering pump on it when I bought it from the guy I don't know if he has done any work as far as modifying the pump. my question is as I am running 35 inch tires and planning on going on the trails is there bigger better pump that I can get my hands on that will stand up to the abuse of trailing and turning bigger tires? but also not brake the bank i heard there was a guy on here that has rebuild these or knows where to get one

a stock pump will work fine upto 37's...but if you WANT to upgrade, I have heard that a pump from a Durango is nice. Try google...xj pump upgrades.

Just replace the stock pump. You can increase pressure and volume by: http://westtexasoffroad.homestead.co...rsteering.html I have done this when running stock pumps to run full hydro setups. But without assist or full hydro I would just keep it stock.

You can upgrade the steering gear box to the durango version Here: http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/dur...-upgrade-3805/
